Kalaw
We very much enjoyed our stay at Thitaw Lay House in Kalaw. It is a traditional rural house run by a Belgian owner, Marc. The guesthouse is a ten-minute walk away from the centre of Kalaw.
At Thitaw Lay House we had our best breakfast and bread of Myanmar.
I also liked Everest Nepali Food Centre. It offers many vegetarian options and is very reasonably priced. Unfortunately when I got there I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture!
Thitaw Lay House is a very good base for discovering Kalaw and its surroundings also because it offers many useful services such as advice on activities, hikes or restaurants as well as a cheap and reliable laundry service. More information can be found at their website: https://www.thitawlayhouse.com/
In Kalaw I was very happy to find a vegetarian cafe, Sprouting Seeds. Excellent atmosphere and good food. They don't have a website but only a Facebook page: https://web.facebook.com/sproutingseedscafe/?_rdc=1&_rdr
